Building costom bikes is like therapy for me.
I used to own a full service shop, not a real big place, but none the less it was a bike shop. It came complete with all the standard stuff that people don't realize comes with a business. You know, BILLS. Big bills, little bills, medium sized bills, and a few monsterous ones. To help things out you hire an employee. He comes complete with his own set of BILLS. And then you have customers that don't want to pay their BILLS. They thought it would be great to have their buddy, who owns a shop, fix their bike. Imagine their supprize when that buddy wanted to get payed. What a way to find out who your friends are.
Try to compete with the cataloges that buy from the same suppliers at 10-15% less than you. Oh well, it's over and done with.
Now I work my regular job and build customs as a hobby.
