Building your dream bike

What you need to get started
There three things that you need to build a custom.

1) Either a complete, up and running bike, or a basket case. This is probably the most difficult.

2) A vision. You must have a rough idea of the finished project.

3) Last but not least has two parts. You must either have alot of time, some resourcefulness, and some money. Or alot of money and some time.

This is my project bike, an old Sporty. I got it a few years ago, when I ran into a kid that blew it up and needed rent money.

The first thing I did was rip it apart. At 6'4" I knew that I wouldn't be comfortable on a stock Sporty. Then, I sat and decided what the finished project would look like. Besides looks, it had to be functional, it had to be comfortable. After all, I am a real rider. I'd rather have stonechips than trophies.

This bike is basically a budget project. A lot of the parts I had from other bikes, some of I got at swap meets, some were donated, and yes, I bought a bunch.
